Devil May Cry Movie

Screen Gems bought the film rights to Devil May Cry, the video game series developed by Capcom. The studio intends indeed to bring the story of the game to the big screen. Screenwriter Kyle Ward (who wrote of the script of the Kane & Lynch movie that's currently in pre-production) has been hired to pen a script for a live-action adaptation. No director has been announced yet. There's no official release date yet but IMDb has the film slated for a 2013 release.

For those who don't know Devil May Cry, it's a hack and slash video game. Originally intended to be a sequel in Capcom's Resident Evil series, Devil May Cry was such a radical departure from the series' style that it was developed into a new property entirely. The story focuses on Dante who's hellbent on avenging his mother's murder by exterminating demons. Here's the cinematic intro of the first opus of Devil May Cry:

DEVIL MAY CRY

From what I heard the film will likely be based on the Devil May Cry 4 game which is actually a prequel to the previous three games.

What actor do you think should be cast for the lead role as Dante? And any suggestion regarding the plot?

Anyway, stay tune with us for more details about the Devil may Cry movie.
